Barcelona Series: How I travelled around Barcelona

Want to maximise your time for activities in Barcelona without spending hours on public transport?

I was only in Barcelona for 4 days, including travelling there and home, so it was important to maximise my time in the beautiful city. To do this, we didn’t want to spend tonnes of time in cabs or attempting to walk everywhere in the 30-degree heat. Here’s how we did it…

Bikes

Cycling in Barcelona is surprisingly safe. There are lots of people that do it and there are cycle lanes all over the city.

Cycling in Barcelona

We hired bikes from 2 different places:

  • Ben’s Bikes – right by the Arc de Triomf
  • Color Bikes – a road off Las Ramblas

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT cycle to Parc Guell. It’s up a steep hill and it’s just not fun – yes, I’m speaking from experience *cries*.

Taxis

As in any city, there is an abundance of taxies everywhere. The drivers are usually pretty good at speaking English and are reasonably priced.

WALK

Everything about Barcelona is absolutely stunning, so use those feet to wander around your beautiful surroundings. I recommend downloading the Citymapper app to help you out when walking around, it never steered us wrong!

Cable Car

This is the perfect way to get a bird’s eye view of Barcelona! We went on the cable car that started from the beach and went up to the Olympic stadium. It only lasts about 10 minutes, but the views are breathtaking.

I hope this helps!
